TRUE RELIGION
HEY...GUYS SORRY ITS BEEN SOOOOOO LONG!!!! IVE BEEN GRINDING TRYING TO GET THIS PROJECT FINISHED! But here I am.....4 weeks to go, and nervous as ever. I feel like this is a whole new ministry life,...like Ive been bron again with a new direction and purpose, with my ministry.
Let me explain in firther detail....
TRUE RELIGION, a brand of jeans that probably for more aesthetic purpose than principal, have a Budha on all of there jeans....I dont have an issue wearing them, bc I believe, I make the clothes, the clothes don't make me....and what I wear doesn't conflict the christian principals i believe in. Lets face it...most designers have alternative lifestyles anyway...how many versace ties does your Pastor have LOL...
But RELIGION...I'm having a huge issue with these days....Especially Religion based in ethnicity....I believe it totally separates us, and Limits our ability to reach the lost of every race, gender, and age.
We all have our expectation in our local assemblies of what was a succesful church service...If you cried and feel a type of emotional release, if we danced and sweated our clothes out, if the choir killed and the preacher couldnt even preach, if the altar call was soooo powerful people were slain under the spirit....
My problem with religion is ....and I know this is so CLICHE' and those who know me..know how I hate CLICHE's but the CHURCH at large is so busy having CHURCH that we are not BEING the CHURCH.!!!!!
WE get caught up in what is supposed to happen, how do I get my emotional fix,....maybe I need to feel repeneted, maybe I just need a boost in hope to feel better about my financial situation.....my problem iwth religion especially religion based off of a ethnic tradition..is SHOULDNT the church be gving all of us strategies based off the word of God, in order that we all come to the untiy of the faith until we are all unfied in one perfected body? or are we jsut getting together to have a good time? WHy did you go to church last sunday...why do you go every sunday?
Why did God even give us the CHURCH? Jesus being the chied cornerstone. that tells me that the church is here to do the work that Jesus was doing while he was here on earth? most of the crowds following Jesus, were starving people....not only did he befriend them made them human, he fed them clothed them and then gave them the bread of life unto life everlasting.
WHat happens when you leave church....is our local churhc affectingour communities...or are you ahving church every sunday?
I know it is a simple ideology but, I want to affect the world and leave a legacY!!! not just make music to get fortune, fame, and whatever else comes with being a christian artist everyday, but if I dont use those things to grow the Kingdom of God what GOOD am I to the LORds CHRUCH????
My focus has changed dude. I realize that minsitry should bring Justice. Justice for a people who serve a Creator that is just...and not a platform for self promotion and self worship. Bottom line the work and outreach of the church should go far beyond just gospel music.
SEEK ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness everything else will be added... I have been seeking things, Acceptance, approval, AWARDS, MONEY, POPUILARITY, VIP TREATMENT, ALL THE ACUTREMENTS THAT COME ALONG WITH BEING A MUSCIAN AND ARTIST. I began building my own kingdom instead of seeking His.
IN the midst of my frsutrations I had to ask myself...
what does my TRUE RELIGION say? Is my Religion, True?...or is it wrapped up in preconcieved notions on what I feel religion is? Im I just going to church or am I being the church?
Ashland Avenue wont just be looking to change church people but to affect the world....I want to affect the community and help to change the world...UNtil the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our Lord and his CHrist....
I want to leave a legacy of gving....not just taking...I want to be the church....
NOW ON TO TRUE RELIGION JEANS...UGGGHHHH its over!!! I paid 300 dollars a pop for them jouns...and now I hardly wear them! when i saw a grandfather have them on I knew it was done...LOL..I mean they are cool..great washes great designs...but I'm about being a better steward over my money these days...Dont break your neck to go buy some knock offs..its not that serious...ITS OVER! LOL....I still have them still wear them its just...I'M NOT TOO COMFORTABLE SHARING A TREND WITH YOUR POP POP!
SEE i'm aobut to delve into a self image seminar....again a issue with religion and clothes. I heard someone say we should wear our best and find it a privilige to Dress up for God... NOw you tell me do you think God is more concerned abouyt our outward appearance or our hearts?
we have our High and Holy services..and Its all good...but sometimes do we cause more separation than unity....and are you buying your clothes to represent a image that you are not...DId you buy that pinstripe suit bc youre man of God has one,? and did you go into debt for it? omg i'm getting preachy..my bad....self image coming...next blog...I'm not FREE yet! LOLHAAAAA

btw the title wont be VERTICAL anymore but ....it will be.....just wait 4 weeks...
DAG i spent 250 in fliers. I'm jsut a year late shut up!

What does Worship have to do with Jeans?
Actually Nothing ...Besides the fact that I have a RIDICULOUS PASSION FOR BOTH! LOL.
The Need to Worship A HIGHER BEING is wired in us. It will either be GOD or things. Even though I love JEANS (!!!!!) ...I choose GOD - NO FALSE IDOLS HERE. LOL.
Even though in the past I have been guilty of being a horrible steward; JUST BUYING, BUYING, BUYING, and BUYING lol..at the end of the day..... I'VE FOUND THAT I WANT/NEED GOD MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.
There is a song on my upcoming project "VERTICAL" called "MAKE ME LIKE YOU" and that's my goal. I'm deeply flawed, but I'm after the heart of GOD; please make me like you.
Well, here is the news my friends and people who support my music:
THIS NEXT ALBUM I REALLY BELIEVE I HAVE COMPLETELY FOUND MYSELF AS AN ARTIST!!!!
The Sound on it is pretty different than anything I've done before.....IT'S ALL GOD and blind faith. I'm not quite comfortable and I'm not sure what you guys will think, but again its all God....so i'm going on FAITH!
My entire process has been completely different from any other album. I have probably let go of the most control ever and given equal say or maybe more to my producer - Terry Brewer (who has worked with Jason Nelson, Kevin Rodgers and AVOP etc.)...so its all new and that's why it's taking so long; hopefully by 1st quarter of next year (yes, we've pushed it back, but it's worth it) we will be releasing......so keep praying!!!!
Look out for the "Worship & Jeans Mixtape" releasing within the next few weeks. It cost only $5 and will be sold via internet. I will post the information here when it is released!!
